What’s the one thing that never ceases to amaze me about FH Toronto?

FleishmanHillard Toronto rallies to raise funds for Pathways to Education and in the process I am reminded why I truly love my work

This year, FH turns 70 and to celebrate this amazing milestone we launched a year-long celebration where offices across our network are coming together with a renewed spirit toward volunteerism and fundraising in support of organizations that foster social inclusion. This past weekend the FH Toronto team concluded our second charitable project to mark this commitment. We blazed a trail at the annual Longboat Run on Toronto Island in support of Pathways to Education Canada – a community-based non-profit organization and leader in youth education. The organization has been helping kids in low-income communities to stay in school, graduate from high school and achieve their full potential for over 15 years.

An office of just over 40 people, we set an ambitious goal of raising $10,000 to help this amazing organization. With not much more than a week to go, we were on pace to hit $1,000 – well below our goal. But once again, this FHabulous team did what we always do. We rallied together when it mattered most and crossed the fundraising finish line having achieved another personal best. In fact, while we may not have clocked the fastest times in the 5K/10K races respectively, rumour has it we were the top fundraising team at the event!

But while timed runs and fundraising goals are important, it was the passion, teamwork and commitment that continues to make me proud of this team. Gandhi once said the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. The last few weeks I saw how this team came together in support of each other and it reminded me why I come to work each day. We work in an industry where the measure of success or value you bring is too often determined by new business wins or the state of a spreadsheet. This team never ceases to amaze me, always surprises me and most importantly over-delivers every single time. That’s what matters most to our clients and each other.

Thanks to our families, friends, clients, colleagues and partners (and our company) who supported our efforts with financial donations for this amazing organization. But most importantly to the FH Toronto team who lived up to our company values by going beyond and doing TRULY great work for Pathways to Education Canada.
